Got a new granny gear on the Niner after much fighting with getting it shimmed right. Always fun making stuff work that wasn't designed that way. Mechaining skills are up to par for it. Found my arm warmers and my knee warmers they will be needed to start as always....insert shaved leg joke here.
Picked up my nutritional stuff at Performance the other day paid nothing for it. Gotta love the performance points. Going to be running cliff blocks, honey stinger waffles and nuun as well as using the aid stations and the wonderful volunteers their.
This year I am venturing into the unknow....no camelbak. 3 bottles. My last big ride the Fairfax Epic I ran a camelbak. It was hot and muggy out and my core temp was cooking. If I can feel it that's pretty bad. I am usually warm, high metabolism and all. So 2 on the bike on in the jersey pocket. MP3 player in the other and food. Already tried it out not to bad at all. Just have to stop and fill the bottles at all the Aids minus #6 when I get there.
This past weekend we were supposed to get slammed by Irene the hurricane, well after surviving Katrina in the fine state of Mississippi I wasn't expecting a whole lot. So what did we do? We went for a road ride. Hooked up with Steve from the Gripped Films squad and headed out though George Town ended up with about 3 hours. Finished up in the rain slumming it back up 14th street. Got home and I could smell the funk coming out of me. Fun stuff.
The rest of this rest week entails stretching every night and in the morning before I head off to work. Drinking a ton of water. I will be commuting tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday.
Time goals.....dare I say sub 11. Few people think I have it in me. Will see come the 5th.
