That close......

I have been trying to bag this ride for a while now. It entails hitting all the southern Fairfax County Parks. Starts out at a park and ride lot on Gambrill road. Head up Rolling road and drop into the back of Accotink hit most of the singletrack there, hop on the CCT and boogey over to Wakefield ride what you like there. We hit the race course for the W@W only good stuff there. Hop back on the CCT and head south to Laurel Hill. This is where Erik Stulee bailed he had 35 miles logged on his GPS. I rode most of the trail there, grabbed some water at the Shell on 123, then hoped on the wonderful Hampton road and scooted up to Fountain Head park. I got some funny looks asking for chain lube....I didn't drive here dickhead. Did a lap there it was kinda slow but I was still passing a few people, makes ya wonder. It started thundering and blowing pretty heavy. Felt a few drops in the woods. Made it though the loop no issues, slight cramp on one of the steep hills.

Finished up there and sat by the vending machines watching the skys debating calling for a ride or slumming it back 15 miles to Springfield. I ended up calling for a ride, as soon as they got there it cleard up....dammit. Oh well another shot will be taken this year. No GPS for me prob did another 15 miles after Laurel Hill. Lets felt good I was ahead of Erik on the climbs he is a consistant mid 10 hour SM100 guy, he isn't racing this year. Good ride, one more good push next weekend then its sucking down water and stretching all week to prep for the 100.

  1. I've missed so many opportunities by expecting rain that never materializes that now I say screw it and ride anyways. Whats the worse than can happen? I've also got caught in a nasty storm and got pelted with hail cause of that attitude.
